Lori's wooden mailboxes are finished with 5 coats of varnish, inside and outside, all done by hand. Nevertheless, they do need to be put under a porch roof or some type of overhang as the beauty of wood will not last out totally in the weather. Wooden mailboxes are not intended to be put out by the street! We use pure brass hinges (not the plated ones) and the mailboxes come assembled. We will give you a short note with suggestions to help you keep your mailbox in like new condition. Your mailbox should last for years. Lori has been painting long enough to have extensive feedback from her customers.
The wood mailbox measures 17 1/2" across x 13 1/2" tall by 8" deep. It is a fairly good size and is measured for items as large as the city Sunday newspapers, magazines, etc.
Lori will gladly paint your name and/or house or box number on your mailbox free of charge. We recommend the use of the last name for security reasons i.e. "The Smiths"
Most of the designs shown on the metal mailboxes are also available on wooden mailboxes. Please inquire about designs you'd like on a wooden mailbox.
